On the 911 call made by Zimmerman on February 26, 2012 at 7:09:34PM, you can hear Zimmerman continue to chase after Trayvon Martin even after the 911 operating told him, “We don’t need you to do that.” Along with other comments Zimmerman made such as, “These a*holes, they always get away,” indicate that he was not going to stop following Martin. Zimmerman hung up the phone with the 911 operator at 7:13:45PM and by 7:16:59PM, a gunshot was fired and Trayvon Martin lay dead. It was just a little over two minutes from the time Zimmerman hung up, till the first 911 call came in. Why wasn’t Zimmerman back in his vehicle? Better still, what was he even doing out of his vehicle following someone he believed to be dangerous? I think I know the answer to that, he had “fake courage” on his hip -that loaded gun. He felt like a tough guy. That’s a whole different discussion though on why concealed weapons are a bad idea, especially for people like George Zimmerman.
Add to all this, Zimmerman’s previous arrest record. In 2005 he was arrested for shoving a police officer, a third-degree felony. The charges were dropped when young George agreed to go to an alcohol education program. Also in 2005, Zimmerman’s ex-fiance filed a restraining order against him for domestic violence. He re-filed on her and both were granted. Since anybody can make up any lie to get a restraining order, we could give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it wasn’t entirely true or warranted. But the arrest in the bar where he allegedly shoved a police office does make one wonder what race that police office was. Would a mixed-race individual feel so entitled that he would shove a white cop? Even wealthy, white males don’t feel that entitled. My guess is that the cop was black, but I have no evidence to back that up.
So, we have a mixed-race, previously violent and currently armed (and possibly under the influence given his history) George Zimmerman, who also clearly has problems with authority, following a “suspicious,” unarmed, black male.
And we’re expected to believe that the 17-year old started the altercation with Zimmerman and allegedly said, “You’re going to die tonight?” Give me a break. Nowhere in that scenario is Trayvon Martin the aggressor.
None of that directly proves racism. There’s nothing to definitely say that Zimmerman is a racist. There’s also nothing that says the law is bias, but this does…
A black woman in Florida, Marissa Alexander, was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 20 years for firing a gun into the air to scare off her abusive husband. She clearly used the “Stand Your Ground” law the way any logical person would think it was intended. Just one problem, she’s black. She already had an order of protection against her husband, documentation of his violence towards her, and she’s still found guilty? And the law is not a racist law?
It sure looks to me like Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law really means, “It’s OK to kill somebody in Florida as long as you’re not black.”
