The idea that government has to provide health care for people is just plain crazy. Can you imagine how many people in this country are abusing their bodies? The abuse of alcohol, recreational drugs, cigarettes smoking, eating junk foods are just irresponsible lifestyles that have bad consequences in our bodies. I can add to these, lack of exercise, lack of sleep and abuse of over the counter medications. Then we expect the government, tax payers, to pay for the consequences of our lack of responsibility.Politicians will try to promise you anything just for votes which is very irresponsible also. It is lack of leadership.
And Christian people should understand that is not government responsibility to provide health care for people. Government wasn’t created by God to do that. Government was created by God to establish Justice.
Romans 13 ” Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God: and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment.
3 For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same:
4 for he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.
6 For this cause ye pay tribute also; for they are ministers of God’s service, attending continually upon this very thing.”
If you read “The Declaration of Independence” -“…We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”
There is another institution created by God, The Church, that one of its duty is to provide assistance to people in this area. The Church is is responsible to heal the sick, teach its members to stay healthy by eating responsibly, to learn about faith to maintain their health. The Church is to learn how to eat properly and feed their children healthy food. Our bodies are not even ours, so you can imagine how responsible you are with it.
One of the reason health care is so expensive is because the amount of people that are sick and it keep growing. It is an epidemic and we have done it to ourselves by ignorance or by whatever reason. Now, do you think is fair to expand government health care expenses to continue bailing out our irresponsibility. It is like giving out citizenship to illegal immigrants without securing the borders. When is it that we are going to demand responsibility? It is not fair to expect others to pay for our medical care when we are irresponsible with our own bodies and our children. If we choose to do it then we should be able to pay for it.
I agree that there are weak people that are going to need help. But is the Church, The Mercy Department, that is going to be in charge of providing assistance for people that can’t take care of themselves if there are no family members who also should take that responsibility.
Beside personal irresponsibility there are other causes for high health care costs. Government free medical insurance interferes with the market forces. Once the government decides to pay for medical equipment, doctor’s visits, hospitalizations and medications, it takes away from people the ability to negotiate. People will visit the doctor for any little thing, people will not shop for the cheapest product. As doctors will get a fixed price from the government, which is usually much lower than doctors want, their motivation to be excellent in what they do is removed. All of the market forces are eliminated. Hospitals will increase the prices to cover for the losses as they are also forced by government to accept and treat emergencies even if people have no money or insurance to pay. Insurance companies will also increase their premiums as doctors and hospitals charges more for their services. It becomes a vicious cycle. Frivolous law sues increases doctors and hospital expenses adding more increase to medical costs for citizens.
To find the best solutions is to go back to allow people to be responsible for their own health care. To do this is difficult because we have come too far depending on government help. But if we don’t do it is going to happen anyway the hard way as health care is going to crumble on its own weight. We will go back to personal responsibility sooner or later. All of the high pressure synthetic solutions we have created against the free market low pressure solutions is already spinning and a hurricane of economic measure disaster is going to it us to bring us to balance. We are going to pay for our own irresponsibility sooner or later.
