What has happened to our Constitution?
On Aug 20, 2011, peaceful protesters were arrested outside the White House during a sit in. I do no know if it is the Patriot Act that has made the government think it has the right to do this, but it seems likely.
Where has our right of assembly gone? Where does the Government get off denying Americans a Constitutionally protected right? Are we truly becoming the Police State that many Americans are now afraid that we are heading towards?
What is next? Will we send the National Guard out to shoot peaceful protesters as the damn Chinese did in Tienamen Square in Beijing? What is happening to our country and why are not more people upset that something like this happened?
I am appalled that the Obama administration allowed this to happen and call on the President to issue a formal apology, not only to those arrested that day, but also to the Country as a whole. And I expect a promise that nothing like this will EVER happen again. We can not continue to tell others how to run their business if our own government is going to allow arrests that are against our own Constitutional rights. Am I the only one who understands that?
I am a peaceful person. But, as I have heard in a song recently, “The answer to 1984 is 1776.” Must we shed more blood to RESECURE the freedoms our forefathers fought to win for us? If so, then I hope that this administration understands that we will NOT shy from doing so. Must we water the tree of Liberty with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants once again? Will the government make it necessary?
Does it really need to come to that, or can the corrupt Obama regime make the necessary changes to Government policy to assure the American People that our Constitutionally guaranteed right to assembly is not stripped from us?
I am an American citizen who grew up in a foreign country, traveled the world and saw, first hand, the kind of oppression that can happen in countries where the rights of the citizens are not respected by the government…and I’ll be damned if I’ll stand by and let it happen in the land that I love; the land that could be and should be the One Shining Example for the rest of the world.
