If you are an avid reader, in probability you may spend a big amount of money on buying books draining your paycheck. However, if you take some time to search for alternatives you will be surprised to find out how much money you can actually save when it comes to reading books.
1. Swap books with a friend or relative
If you do not have the time or energy to visit bookstores and conduct a thorough research on titles that may interest you, what you can do is swap books with a friend or a relative of yours. If the two of you have similar tastes in books you can both equally benefit from that exchange.
2.Bargain racks
If you have some patience, then you can wait to read last year’s bestsellers in bargain racks at half the price. More often than not, they are kept in good condition and you will be surprised to see the big variety offered. Under no circumstances should you ask for an even lower price at a bargain rack though, as the price offered is already as low as it could get. If you have such a problem with the price offered for a specific book, it would be in good taste to look for something else instead.
3. Local used bookstores
If you do not have enough storage space in your library for already read books, what you can do is bring those books to your local used bookstores and get in exchange a 50% discount for every book you want to purchase yourself. It will be a win-win situation for you, as you will both get rid of books you no longer want and get the books you want at half the price.
4. Bulk buying
If you want to purchase books in bulk at extremely low prices, flea markets is the first place to look for. With the price for each book not exceeding one dollar and having the opportunity to trade if you wish, flea markets promise to satisfy your reading hunger. Another thing you can do when you want to purchase books in big quantity to save money is to search online for available offers, most especially on Amazon, which is known to offer a combination of similar items for purchase based on your personal preferences, at a great discount.
5. Library book sales
While attending library book sales you will be given the chance to purchase an impressive collection of gardening books and mystery novels for only a few dollars each, paperbacks for as little as fifty cents each, and hardbacks for as little as one dollar each.
As there are several ways to spend less on reading books, all you have to do is choose the one that suits you best and go for it.
