When summertime rolls around, you will begin to see those familiar signs pointing the way to yard sales around town. They are really pointing the way to incredible savings if you know how to make the most of them. You can find almost anything if you look long and hard enough at the local yard sales. There are many things that you can find for mere pennies on the dollar of what you would pay at the standard stores. In today’s struggling economy, who couldn’t use a great deal on things that they would buy anyways?
The items that we all use on a regular basis can even be found at yard sales for various reasons. Maybe someone who is allergic to vanilla got a gift set of soaps for a gift and they never took the time to return them. These are probably going to make it out to their yearly sale for a bargain price, allowing someone who uses this item to rack up the savings. Since they probably would have bought the soap anyways, they have wasted nothing but gained several dollars. Following this same principle can save you, as well. Do be cautious, however, in purchasing personal care items, and search for ones that are still unopened and in the original packaging.
Yard sales can do more than save you money. They can actually make you money. Keep your eyes open for premium designer labels and grab them up if you find them for a good price. For example, a Coach purse may be found for ten dollars at a yard sale and can then be taken home, cleaned up, and resold by you for much more than that. You can resell items at consignment stores, online auction sites, the classified ads, or other places, such as Craigslist. There are people who make a full-time living doing this right from the comfort of home. If you are someone who loves to spot a bargain and enjoys yard saling, you might want to try your hand at it. I wouldn’t suggest quitting your day job quite yet, but who knows, you might find that eventually you can!
Yard sales can be literal treasure troves of great deals for the person who has the patience to find them. If this sounds like you, get up early, head out, enjoy the sunshine and the shopping. You might just find something utterly amazing!
