American actor and writer, Stephen Wright, once said, “He was a multi-millionaire. Wanna know how he made all of his money? He designed the little diagrams that tell which way to put the batteries in.”
It seems that many millionaires just stumbled upon their success. The recipe for Post-It note glue was an accident. The guy who invented the WeedEater just got sick of clipping weeds by hand and found a unique use for fishing string. And wouldn’t we all give anything to have been the genius who came up with the trendy idea to sell water in cheap plastic bottles? Every millionaire started out with a dream, an idea, and a little persistence. (Or maybe a lot of persistence!) And the fact of the matter is, we can all have dreams, ideas, and persistence!
The Recipe
Every millionaire’s success is comprised of a very simple recipe. The recipe starts with a dream. If you want to discover the millionaire in you, you must be a dreamer. Don’t limit yourself to small, mediocre goals. Set reachable goals, yes, but also set long term, big goals. Reach for the stars. Dream the impossible. If you envision nothing for your life, you will achieve it every time. So why not envision something great? You’ve got nothing to lose.
The next vital ingredient is an idea. The guy from Wright’s quote had an idea to instruct people on how to insert batteries into things. How simple is that? Is there something that you’ve always wished were simplified? Is there a daily task that you perform that could be made more efficient? Every idea is born from a necessity. You could just be the person with the next greatest idea.
Finally, persistence always pays off. You’ve spun your dream, you’ve come up with the idea, but now’s the time to apply the elbow grease to bring it to life. Your dreams and ideas aren’t going to take off on their own. Every successful millionaire has spent countless hours, shedding blood, sweat and tears to see his dream come to fruition. Don’t wait for someone else to do the work. Get off the couch, turn off the television, and go make your dreams a reality!
Do Something
The couch potato never becomes a millionaire. In fact, the couch potato never really makes anything of his life. Unfortunately, he has chosen to waste his wonderful potential by placing his brain in neutral and watching mindless hours of television. If this is a picture of your life, stop it right now! Polish the diamond in the rough and find a way to discover your inner millionaire. Have you always wanted to try your hand at writing a book? Write it. Do you have a great idea for a new video game? Submit it. Is there a profession you would like to learn? Learn it. We live in the greatest country in the world that affords everyone equal opportunity to achieve as much success as he or she desires. It’s time to quit feeling like you are entitled to financial assistance. With that sort of attitude, you will never get anywhere good in life. Get out there and make something of your life!
Be Optimistic
Last, but certainly not least, a little optimism goes a long way. If you don’t believe you can accomplish anything, you probably won’t. Even the people who stumbled on success by accident were at least trying to accomplish something. They believed in themselves. A negative, pessimistic attitude is a sure fire way to keep yourself down, and also drags other people down around you. Even if you don’t feel optimistic, you can choose to be optimistic. Try it, you’ll be amazed at the results. Chase your dreams with reckless abandon and who knows? With a lot of persistence and a little bit of luck, you just might discover your inner millionaire.
