Geico Insurance Review

Few companies, let alone car insurance companies, run so many different ad campaigns simultaneously.  Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance.  Great, but who is telling us?  The Geico Gecko?  The surprisingly civilized cavemen?  The stack of money that is always followed by Rockwell’s one hit from the 80s?  Does it even matter?  It seems that every car insurance company claims that they can save you money when compared to the others.  Not all of these companies can be telling the truth.  Geico is.

THE COST

Obviously, car insurance costs can vary greatly from user to user, from car to car, and from location to location.  There is no guarantee that Geico will be the cheapest for anyone in any given situation.  However, most will find that with a little research, Geico is the cheapest, at least, without considering very small and possibly unreliable companies.  A simple internet search for quotes from All State, State Farm, Progressive, E-Surance, and Geico will typically reveal that Geico is the cheapest.

On a personal note, I moved to an urban area, and My insurance rate almost doubled.  I checked internet quotes, all of which were similar to what State Farm had wanted me to pay.  Geico wanted to charge me less than what I had been paying before I moved.  Skeptical, I called to verify the price.  Which brings us to the next section.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Geico help and claims are available by phone (or internet) 24 hours a day.  There are plenty of people available to answer the phone, so policy owners will not have to wait too long to talk to someone.  And then, the folks on the other end of the line have the nerve to be both friendly and helpful.  If they are unable to answer any questions, they can quickly find someone who does.  For the purposes of buying the insurance, the ads turned out to be true.  My call was just about fifteen minutes, and I saved 50%.  (Which falls under the “more” section of “15% or more.”)

Of course Geico employees will be nice when they want to sell something.  Surprise!  They are equally helpful when canceling the policy.  This call is shorter, but the employees will talk you through everything you need to do, and won’t try to talk you out of it.
