Since when is saving money and getting things you need for really cheap or even getting them for free trouble? I am a coupon collector! Those coupons have helped me to stock-pile items that I need without having to pay for them.
My husband gets a kick out of asking if I am going “stealing” again. That’s what he calls my couponing hobby. He now jokes that we should wear ski masks when we go to the drugstore. But of course, all we do is legal. We just take coupons and head out to shop.
I have not had to pay for toothpaste, shampoo, razors, feminine products, cat treats, various cleaning products and so much more in years. And that is all because of coupons. Many drugstores have sales on these types of items that with your coupons and their savings card or program, you get the item free. Take CVS with their Extra Care program. They often have items for really cheap or even free after the extra bucks. Use a coupon to get the item free or even make money on it. How? Say Crest toothpaste is on sale for $3 and is giving back $2 in Extra Bucks. Use a $1 off coupon and you have a free item. Most of the time you will have to pay tax on the item but so what!
Many grocery stores double coupons up to $1 and some even triple coupons! None of my stores triple, but they all double up to $1 and up to four of the same kind of coupon. Combine your coupons with a sale and you have a great deal.
Kmart stores are even getting in on the double coupons. They run doubles events in certain locations every month and usually double up to $2 coupons. There are lots of things you can get for free at these events.
Now you can find coupons everywhere. If no one was using them, do you think you would continue to see them all over the place? You can print your own coupons from home, get them from your local newspaper, displays in stores and magazines. Coupons are everywhere and that is because they work, they can save you money. Nowadays you can find a coupon for just about every item you want. Food, health and beauty items, pet care, household cleaners, lawn care, the list goes on and one. Even prescription drug companies offer coupons!
Life is expensive. And with the state of the economy as it is now, every penny counts. The savings you can get from coupons can help you to balance your budget, save more or even just still be able to afford the items you love. Yes, couponing can be time consuming and you need to be organized. But the savings in the long run far outways the time invested and the money it costs for a newspaper.
